Marketing collateral

During my time at HarperCollins Publishers New Zealand I created a range of marketing materials to promote and sell books – everything from flyers and presenters, to posters and pamphlets.

At the University of Auckland I also produced a range of miscellaneous marketing collateral, including flyers, posters, and brochures, to be handed out at recruitment, international, and special events.

Convention presence

In 2023, PikPok took a demo of the game Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days to PAX Australia. I was responsible for seeing the convention presence from initial concept to completed booth, including arranging wall art design and printing, equipment rental and sponsorships, booth furniture, decorative elements, and set up/pack down. I also manned the booth along with other staff, talking to both the public and press about the game.

Prospectuses and guides

Over five years in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland, I produced a large number of annual glossy publications. These were used for marketing purposes, as well as helping students to plan their degrees, settle into university life, navigate course options, and find support services. I wrote a large amount of the content myself, often taking dry regulation text and turning it into something engaging and easy to understand. I also checked facts, proofread, attended photoshoots, worked with a designer, and coordinated timelines and contributors.

Books

As part of my 2017 Graduate Diploma in Publishing (Applied) I worked on four different book projects, including a title that was nominated for a 2018 New Zealand Book Award for Children and Young Adults.

I have also worked as a publishing assistant at Mākaro Press, involved in everything from manuscript assessment and editing, to design and marketing on a number of titles.
