I was born in Heidelberg, Germany, and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. I am a European Union citizen.

In 2011 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (double major in Film, Television, and Media Studies, and English) from the University of Auckland. I worked in two roles at the University of Auckland, as Web and Publications Assistant and then Content Writer and Coordinator for the Faculty of Arts.

In 2017 I moved to Wellington to undertake a Graduate Diploma in Publishing (Applied) at Whitireia New Zealand.

During the first half of 2018 I was a volunteer at Mākaro Press (now The Cuba Press) before becoming Marketing Communications Executive at HarperCollins Publishers New Zealand in June 2018.

Starting in 2022, I became the Communications Specialist for New Zealand’s largest game development studio, PikPok. In 2023 I also took on the role of Product Marketer for Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days. In 2024 both of these roles were combined into the position of Communications and Marketing Specialist, which is my current job title.

I’m a huge pop culture fan – especially video gaming. I also have an interest in children’s books and young adult fiction, and I love to travel and see new places.

Below is a sample of personal projects I’ve worked on.

Video game journalism

For four years I was a contributor to Doublejump.co, an Australasian website dedicated to video games. There I wrote and edited reviews, lists, and opinion pieces. The website is currently undergoing a rebrand, but you can find a selection of my pieces below.

Review – Alan Wake II
Opinion – 2022 Game Awards Picks – Upcoming Titles to Watch
Review – Hades
Listicle contribution – Best Power-ups in Gaming – Red Shell

Creative writing

I love to write creatively, usually in the urban fantasy genre. Both of these pieces were written under the tutelage of Witi Ihimaera, DCNZM QSM. More examples can be shown on request.

Essay

The below essay was written with the prompt ‘A short piece between 1,000 and 1,500 words about a book that has had a particular influence on you or been in some way significant to you.’

Costumery

In my spare time, I like to express my creativity and learn new skills by creating costumes. My earliest attempt was a Misty costume, created for Armageddon Expo 2009 mostly out of clothes I already had and one very cheap wig. I’ve created a number of costumes since then, including Morrigan’s Orlesian gown from Dragon Age: Inquisition, Higgs Monaghan from Death Stranding, and Princess Peach.
